The
expertise that specializes in reading the climatic conditions in the area and
helps air traffic on polar routes is scheduled in Kolkata by the middle of
2013. The space weather reading center in Kolkata is the first of its kind
and has been approved by Union HRD Ministry. This center would come to Indian
Institute of Science, Education and Research (IISER) campus. The Union HRD
Ministry fined four crore rupees for the center.
The
coordinator of the center stated that the center of excellence in space
sciences focuses on the areas of space weather, especially the weather
conditions in the solar system, as well as the gravitational physics.
The
coordinator also explained that solar flares and coronal mass ejections (CME),
the types of storms that came out of the sun and highlights several flights for
the large amount of radiation in the polar regions. From North America,
Europe and South Asia wide variety of commercial flight flying shorten the
distance from the polar regions, and save time.
In this
center help, there will be pre-information on the availability of space or the
solar system originated in these storms. This information may eventually
passed to the civil aviation sector in the polar region or height may in turn
informed about the adverse effects of airline flight.
In case
the weather is not the solar system determined by the mark, it will have an
adverse effect on the role of satellites, but also ultimately affect the mobile
network and GPS systems. Adverse weather conditions on the information in
the space may also be transferred to achieve the telecommunications sector.
This will give them protection in space satellites.
This
centre would initially offer the readings free of cost to the telecommunication
department and the civil aviation, but later this data would be available
commercially.
Apart
from offering assistance to the air traffic on the polar routes, this centre of
excellence will also be helpful in functioning of the GPS networks as well as
mobile satellites which are placed already in the space.
