Mahinda
Rajapaksa, President of Sri Lanka, on January 13, 2013 removed the first woman
chief justice of the country, Shirani Bandarnayake after voting hit her
impeachment by Parliament guilty on corruption charges. It is worth
recognizing that Bandarnayake was fired despite massive protests from lawyers
and others.
Bandarnayake,
54, got the message that ordered the president to move the post. Hair down This
happened two days after Parliament in Sri Lanka have her on trial, widen the
confrontation between the government and the judiciary.
Impeaching
Bandarnayake initially declared unconstitutional by the courts. Meanwhile, the
diagnosis of parliamentary committee found guilty had been canceled. The
parliamentary committee had pronounced on December 8, 2012, that Bandarnayake
guilty of three charges of 14 guilty. The impeachment proceedings were
conducted against her, which were moved by ruling UPFA coalition lawmakers.
The three
charges which she was convicted were those of financial impropriety that were
based on non-declaration of assets.
